Putting some thought into your web design at Think Visibility

Divider I spoke at the Think Visibility conference in Leeds this weekend as part of a site clinic. People submit their sites to the clinic looking for some advice - the clinic takes into account the design, CRO, SEO and link building side of things and I was persuaded to speak about the design. I'd like to share with you my thoughts on the sites submitted – we reviewed 3 websites submitted and I have also done a fourth one too – so you get a bonus one by reading this article. Read more

Creating a smooth working process - step by step

Divider It's quite a big thing – to commission design work – whether it is a new brochure, logo or website. So it is understandable that clients want to be involved. They SHOULD be involved, at the end of the day you are working for them – they have commissioned you to create something for them, something with a specific purpose that needs to be fulfilled. Prepare to be eclipsed by the amazing Celebrity Eclipse

Divider I'm a firm believer that 1st impressions count and you only have one chance to make a good first impression. So... prepare to be eclipsed... Celebrity Eclipse - the brand new cruise ship from Celebrity Cruises launched in April 2010 and being one of their design suppliers I was fortunate enough to be invited on the naming weekend just prior to its official launch. It's not just about what you've had for breakfast - my own Twitter experience

Divider Trying to explain Twitter to my husband certainly isn't the easiest thing. He refers to it as 'Twatter' and to tweets as 'twit things', in short he just doesn't get it and for a while I was with him on that. When I first started on Twitter I didn’t think anyone would be interested in what I'd had for breakfast, how many coffees I had had or what the weather was like where I was – and they are still not interested in that, why would they be. May the sun shine this BTCC season

Divider Last weekend I was fortunate enough to be invited to the first British Touring Car event of the 2010 season. It was doubly exciting for me as I designed the Sunshine.co.uk racing team's car for the second year running and was desperate to see it in the flesh. I can't describe the feeling of seeing something you've designed in print, on the web or in this case - applied to a car, but believe me, it was an occasion I couldn't afford to miss. Read more

Before & After - The design process of a BTCC car livery

Divider I've recently been involved in the redesign of the Sunshine.co.uk BTCC car livery. Now it's great to see the car designs in their completed forms but I thought I'd give you an insight in to the design process of the Sunshine.co.uk team car livery. Having been involved with the livery redesign over the past two seasons we need to look back several years to see where the starting point was. Read more
  • If a picture speaks 1000 words - why then do I have to speak?

If a picture speaks 1000 words - why then do I have to speak?

Divider Public speaking is one of those things that has always scared me. Ever since I was a child and was 'persuaded' to do a public speaking competition as part of my GCSE's - I've been terrified of it. Some people are naturals at it – they can stand up and appear very calm, confident and commanding – something that, believe me, I certainly lack when I stand up and speak. Read more
